We have a candidate lined up that we are looking at seriously to start our journey with. This is a 1990 Mercedes Benz 435\/1300L with an ambulance body on it. Sometimes this is more universally referred to as a Unimog. It is equipped with a OM366 turbo charged engine which should produce 135 hp. It has the fast axle version of it’s unique portal axles. This should let us comfortably get up to 65 mph with some room for power improvements down the road. The 1300L with ambulance box was originally sold to the German Bundeswehr (Military) and then released as surplus. They are known for having great service records while having very low mileage. This one that we are looking at has around 60,000 km on the odometer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our goal down the road is to outfit this for an expedition\/adventure vehicle. We plan on taking some trips across the United States and into the Americas initially. If all things go well and we are able to extend out our trips we would love to ship it overseas and bring it to the rest of the world. Taking this to unique areas and and documenting our trips with posts, photos, and possibly even some videos here and across the web.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
